Quick Tips Video: Email Marketing Resolutions

The New Year is upon us, which means one thing… it’s time to set your (hopefully realistic) email marketing resolutions!

To help you choose goals that’ll give a nice boost to your email marketing, we shared four ideas in the latest episode of Quick Tips. Check it out:

In case you missed anything, here’s the transcript:

O: Welcome back to AWeber Quick Tips. I’m Olivia.

M: And I’m Monica.

O: Can you believe that 2015 is over? It feels like just yesterday we launched our first episode of Quick Tips.

M: Tell me about it! This is always a good time to take a look back at what you’ve accomplished in the past year and set goals for the year ahead.

O: So for today’s episode, we’re talking resolutions – And, no. Not the calorie-cutting, torturing-yourself-in-the-gym kind of resolution. Email marketing resolutions!

M: Let’s get started.

O: Email Marketing Resolution #1: Go Mobile

M: It’s 2016, people! If you aren’t optimizing your emails for mobile, you’re doing it wrong.

O: According to Litmus, 80% of survey responders said there is a high chance that they’d delete your email for not playing well with their mobile device. Even more shocking? 30% of respondents said they’d unsubscribe completely.

M: Ouch! Just goes to show how important it is to be where your subscribers are – and that place is mobile.

O: Email Marketing Resolution #2: Get Integrated

M: To truly build up your audience, you need to do more than add a signup form to your website.

O: Email marketing integrations are a great compliment to your list building strategy. In fact, on average, AWeber customers that use integrations have lists 104% larger than those who don’t.

M: To help you build up your list, we’ve got a whole library of services that work directly with AWeber. From landing page creators to shopping cart integrations, check out our App Showcase to find the app that’s right for you.

O: Email Marketing Resolution #3: Save the Date

M: An editorial calendar is crucial if you want to stay on top of your email marketing game. Sending emails at a regular cadence can be hard for the busy marketer. Email marketing takes time and it’s easy to let fall by the wayside.

O: But we promise, it’s not as hard as you think! All you need is a little planning.

M: Keeping an editorial schedule lets you plan out your content weeks, or even months, in advance. Think of it as the email marketer’s best friend.

O: The best way to do this is by creating a framework for your emails, identifying key factors like your audience, frequency, type of email and send date. From there, you can start brainstorming content and move on to the fun part – writing!

M: Email Marketing Resolution # 4: Test, Test, Test

O: You’ve probably heard how important it is to test and optimize your email campaigns. But, how often do you stick to that guideline, if ever? And how do you know where to start?

M: A quick look at your analytics will reveal the areas that are in need of the most improvement. Low open rate? This could be a sign that you need to do a little list hygiene.

O: It may be difficult to part with your subscribers, but if they aren’t opening or engaging with your emails, then they aren’t doing you any favors. Trimming them from your list will make sure your emails make it to the right people.

M: That’s all for today. We hope you take away some ideas for your 2016 planning.

O: And remember, these are just guidelines. The goals you set should be custom to you and your marketing needs.

M: Don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel so you never met a Quick Tips episode.

O: We’ll see you back here in two weeks. Cheers to a successful 2015!
